Welcome
to Karla's new site
This
has been in the planning stages for many months and after false
starts, a few abandoned designs and lots of research, we finally
have a new KarlaBonoff.com site with a new look and lots of new
content.
There's a new updated biography and a much more detailed discography,
which now includes information about her own albums as well as
Karla's performances on other artist's recordings. The lyrics
section has been greatly expanded from 35 songs in the old site
to almost 60 in the new. Each of the lyric pages mention who recorded
the song and what album of Karla's it appears on.
The
new "sounds" page has some new music for downloading.
My favorite is an early mix of "Under The Rainbow" which
features Karla's lead vocal, no background vocals at all and a
slightly different mix of instrumentation than what's found on
the 1995 Bryndle release - although I think it's the same take.
We've also uncovered lots of articles and interviews dating as
far back as 1978.
The photo pages are much more plentiful and many of the photos
came from Karla's own collection - with the majority of them unpublished.
Other photos appear on various pages throughout the site.
Karla's live appearances will now be posted on the appearances
page in her own section - and for the time being on the Bryndle
site as well. We've also added contact information and forms to
get in touch with Karla's management, booking agency and webmaster.
The menu system uses Javascript, so unless you've turned it off,
you shouldn't have a problem and we do suggest you use a recent
browser; 5.0 of IE or Netscape (or later) should do just fine.
I think you'll find it easy to navigate from ANY page to ANY other
page without a lot of browsing through intermediate sections to
find what you're looking for.
Thanks to the many people that helped in the testing process -
thanks to Jeff Sanders, Dr. Keith Stein and Ralph for their eye
for detail. Special thanks to Kenny Edwards for answering lots
of questions and his Mac testing. An artistic special thanks to
Wendy Waldman for drawing the perfect rose for the occasion. I
told her what I was looking for and she delivered.
And thanks to Karla. She made many of the decisions about the
design of the site and she answered an endless stream of questions
that went on for months. She also gave me access to her booking
agency and publishing people who were great sources of information.
I received a big box of photos from Karla a few months ago and
she allowed me pick what to use on the site from what felt like
a slice of Southern California folk-rock history. Photos of Karla
backstage with Jackson Browne and Jennifer Warnes and J.D Souther
and Linda Ronstadt. Really amazing stuff!
I had a great time putting it together - just pass your cursor
over the roses below, to start on the home page of the new KarlaBonoff.com.
