Frank Lloyd Wright in the RoundThe Frank Lloyd Wright designed Marin Center, with its distinctive round blue roof, sits on the north side of the Civic Center lake in San Rafael. In 1975, Peter Frampton recorded a live concert there and eventually included some of those tracks on "Frampton Comes Alive," one of the largest selling albums of that decade. The Grateful Dead rented the facility for months in the '80s, using the 2000 seat concert hall as a recording studio as they laid down the basic tracks for their 1989 release, "Built To Last."
The building continues to host a variety of activities, including the Marin County Fair.
