The top part of this building in Sausalito, now used primarily as the offices of a bay area heliport firm, was once the rehearsal studios for The Grateful Dead, Jefferson Airplane and other bay area bands in the 1960s.
With many of those groups having members that lived in San Francisco and Marin, a rehearsal space in Sausalito was centrally located and convenient for all concerned.
